Residency programs are among the most integrative and immersive opportunities for art institutions to develop the respective work and careers of participating artists. Among the residencies available to artists internationally, The Clay Studio, Arrowmont, and The Center for Art in Wood host some of the most renowned programs in the U.S. with “alumni” that span generations of virtuosic artists and craftsmen. Permanent Residency will celebrate these seminal residency programs, which have yielded career-defining work and innovative artistic outcomes that echo throughout the craft field. On display at Goggleworks Art Center in Reading, PA.
Justin Donofrio, Nick Weddell, and Amanda Dobbratz In our inaugural annual exhibition, we are highlighting emerging artists Justin Donofrio, Nick Weddell and Eleanor Anderson. This exhibition will become an annual call for emerging artists to receive a solo exhibition and showcase their talents in our Bonovitz Gallery.
The exhibition highlights the cultural and aesthetic influences of Islam and the Middle East on the work of six contemporary ceramic artists. The curators Sanam Emami, Anat Shiftan, and Dominique Ellis designed the gallery specifically to indicate the visual comparisons between these artists’ work as a metaphor for the shared culture between the US and the Middle East.
