Planning for the future and creating the legacy you wish to leave are among the most effective ways to ensure a lasting impact. Planned gifts take many forms, from bequests to retirement accounts to real estate, and all are celebrated through our Legacy Society.

Ways to give

Gift in your Will or Living Trust

Making a gift in your will or living trust, known as a bequest, can guarantee that your legacy endures. Your gift may be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after all other provisions are specified.

We encourage you to share your final will with The Clay Studio to ensure your wishes are properly honored and recognized. See the "Sample Bequest Language" below for some language that you can share with your attorney or insert in a will that you are preparing yourself.

Beneficiary Designations

Not everyone wants to commit to a gift through their will or estate — and that's completely understandable. For those who prefer greater flexibility, naming The Clay Studio as a beneficiary is a simple and powerful alternative.

You can designate The Clay Studio as a remainder beneficiary of a variety of assets, including:

  • IRAs
  • Retirement plans
  • Life Insurance policies
  • Donor-Advised Funds
  • Commercial Annuities
  • Lead Charitable Trusts
  • Remainder Charitable Trusts

Making the designation is straightforward. Many providers allow you to log in to your account and update your beneficiary information online. You can also request a change-of-beneficiary form directly from your policy administrator or download one from your provider's website. Simply make your desired changes and return the completed form to establish your gift.

Sample Bequest Language

For an unrestricted gift

Below is sample language for an unrestricted gift that allows The Clay Studio to determine how to use the funds based on the most pressing needs:

"I give to The Clay Studio, a nonprofit corporation currently located at 1425 N American Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122, or its successor thereto, _________ [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted charitable use and purpose."

To designate your provision for a particular purpose

"I give to The Clay Studio, a nonprofit corporation currently located at 1425 N American Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122,, or its successor thereto, _________ [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property]. This gift should be used for (state purpose) if and so long as The Clay Studio determines that the need exists. If The Clay Studio shall determine at the outset or at a later time that the need does not exist, or no longer exists, or for some reason it is not possible (or prudent) to administer my gift as originally intended then The Clay Studio may, in its sole and uncontrolled discretion, direct the use of my bequest for a purpose related as closely as possible to that stated above."
