Studio Art Quilt Associates of Pennsylvania
Our juried, touring exhibition features artwork by Studio Art Quilt Associates of Pennsylvania (SAQA-PA) in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States. It premieres in Philadelphia, the cradle of liberty and the birthplace of our democracy, at Moore College of Art & Design, June 13 to August 29, and then travels to three other prestigious venues, ending May 23, 2027 at the Reading Public Museum. Thirty-nine innovative art quilts and quilted artworks explore the broad meaning of independence and freedom of expression, including deep concerns for our democratic values and human rights in our country today. All artworks connect with America's storied past, yet exemplify exciting conceptual and technical departures from tradition that herald the art quilt as a fine art medium. Arc of Promise
In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, Arc of Promise explores how Philadelphia’s artists have envisioned “America” as an idea, from the nation’s founding to today. Drawing largely from Woodmere’s collection, the exhibition spans the 1790s to the present, with painting, sculpture, and works on paper that reflect the ever-renewed ideal of the American experiment. Art with depictions of maps and flags, as well as social and allegorical representations from the 18th through the 21st centuries, is placed in dialogue, revealing how Philadelphia’s artists across generations have grappled with questions of national identity and freedom.

Revolutionary Botany
Revolutionary Botany explores how this change paved the way for the creation of the first collection of recommended medicines published in the United States, known as The Pharmacopoeia of the United States of America (1820). Nearly half the plants included in the Pharmacopoeia were first used by Native American healers. This major event also led to the development of pharmacy as a discipline quite separate from medicine, thereby dividing the prescribing and dispensing of drugs into two distinct professions.
