Better Lovers

"Urschrei" is a German word that roughly translates to “primal scream”. The show is a new collection of objects from Better Lovers, conceived of as a reflexive reaction to the feeling of ambivalent tumbling through a ceaseless series of inflection points. Gloopy, overripe functional sculptures. Clay things fraught in the performance of their neutrality. Furtive envelopes folded and left outside in the rain. We’re reaching for a maximalism that is putrid, vicious and boring in the extreme. Soggy. The pieces are effigies of misanthropic optimism and distracted consumerism. The price tags all read “Buy me before it’s too late, late, late.”
