Description:
Emotions can take over when something significant happens to a person. My work creates an all-encompassing story of raw emotions through my life experiences and displays how emotion can guide us through the present and strengthen us for the future. The lasting impression of an emotion defines who we are and has the ability to drastically alter who we become. We, as humans, pick up the pieces these raw, powerful emotions can break us into and put ourselves back together. Even though these breaks and cracks may fade from view, they still linger beneath the surface; creating a unique self. My artwork references specific memorable instances where strong feelings envelop and changed my self, creating a new version and developing me into the being I am today.

Description:
These cups are a representation of where I am currently in my work and mark a distinctive time in my life. These are the first vessels I created from dug, wild clay just outside of Ridley State Park from clay found when hiking in a place called Mineral Hill. I am moving to Arrowmont in Gatlinburg, Tennessee for the summer and Cub Creek, Virginia after for a 9 month residency. I am hoping to expand upon research started in Philadelphia about developing a clay body fro found, local materials during my time at Cub Creek. These cups are the start of this research and represent my last work in Philadelphia in 2018.
