Theo Uliano

Jan 24th - Feb 9th, 2014

TheoUliano is a listener - a collector of overheard conversation, bathroom stall scrawl and pop culture crap. His cartoonish drawings are a collision of gritty city mixed with MTV, Fox News and the harsh realities of life. Each pot is moment, two lines passed between strangers. Line up several pots in a row and you have a bustling city street full of coarse interactions and snide comments. You can accept the images as funny at face value, but if you are able to open yourself up even a little, the message may slip its way in. Humans can be ugly and the world is not always a pretty place. These pots serve as daily reminders to us all that it comes back around... sobe nice.

Uliano recieved his BFA from Kutztown University, PA in 2007 and his MFA from Tyler School of Art, PA in 2011. After graduate school Uliano apprenticed with Lisa Naples and recently presented his work and The Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show.  He currently works and teaches at The Clay Studio.
