OUR COMMUNITY: Work by Associates, Students, Faculty, Residents, Staff, Board and Work Exchange

May 27th - Jun 19th, 2011

The Clay Studio’s building serves it well in almost every way but one. Our space is on four separate floors, each specific to certain programs. Incredible creative energy is housed under this singular roof. In an effort to showcase and bring together all of the parts of The Clay Studio’s whole, it’s people and its programs, in June of this year we will do an exhibition titled, OUR COMMUNITY. The exhibition will include works by individuals, all part of our community some way. Associates, Board Members, Faculty, Residents, Staff, Students, Teaching Assistants and Work Exchange each contribute in some way to the richness of the whole of our organization. Please join us in celebration and learn more about who we are and all that we do.

Please join us at our Open House on First Friday, June 3 from 5 to 9 pm. Tour our entire building and see first hand what goes on each of the four floors of our Old City home. Our first floor houses our most public spaces, our galleries , administrative offices and meeting space. Our second floor houses our Associates space, a communal studio that provides 40 individuals access to a fully equipped ceramics studio 24/7 and our Work Exchange Program. This program exposes the participants to all aspects of our Studio, allowing them to see professions in the arts beyond that of a maker. Almost all will be going on to Graduate School to earn their MFA's and are developing their work for their portfolios. Our third floor houses our School. Classes in all areas of ceramics are offered for both children and adults. It also house our Guest Artist in Residence Studio. Finally, our fourth floor is for our Resident Artists and Shapiro Fellow. Each receives a free studio space in this program that focuses on professional development and the business of being an artist.
