Joan Bruneau: Season of Marvels

Joan Bruneau is a professional Studio Potter basedin Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and has been regular part-time ceramics faculty atNSCAD University, Nova Scotia since 1995.

 

Joan was born in 1963 in Halifax. A love oftravel and food sparked her desire to become a potter after discoveringauthentic cuisines and pottery traditions on a trip to Europe in 1983. Joanwent on to earn her BFA from NSCAD University and MFA from the University ofMinnesota.

Joan has taught at Emily Carr University, Vancouver, the AustraliaNational University and the Glasgow School of Art. Her work is exhibitedthroughout North America and is in public collections including the Art Galleryof Nova Scotia and Jingdezhen Ceramics Institute, China. Joan was the 2009recipient of the Established Artist Recognition Award from the Nova Scotia Artsand Culture Partnership and the 2005 recipient of the Winifred Shantz Awardthat funded a residency at La Meridiana Ceramics in Italy.
