Dickinson College Hosts The Clay Studio Resident Artists

The Goodyear Gallery

Mar 6th - Mar 30th, 2024

This year, The Clay Studio (Philadelphia) celebrates the 50th anniversary of its resident-artist program, which offers individuals an opportunity to further develop their work; establish professional contacts and standards; and work within a community of like-minded individuals, in an urban environment, for up to three years. The program is designed to reflect a range of experiences and diverse aesthetic approaches, cultures and perspectives. The Clay Studio Resident Artist Program assists artists in becoming successful members of the Philadelphia art community, while making national and international connections. A selection of work from the studio's current resident-artists will be on view at Dickinson College's Goodyear Gallery.

About the Gallery:

The Goodyear Gallery is a faculty run teaching gallery that hosts 3-4 exhibitions a semester highlighting the work of contemporary artists and student work. Gallery exhibitions work to support classes in the department and provide students the opportunity to learn from working artists. The gallery also includes an outdoor mural wall that runs on a 1-2 year schedule and allows students to assist an artist in the process of completing a mural. We are dedicated to showcasing the work of contemporary artists and student work. Gallery programming is focused on providing support to classes in the department and affording students the opportunity to learn from working artists through exhibition preparation and maintaining and curating the gallery space. Most exhibitions have opening receptions that often include artist talks and are open to the general public. *The gallery is located in the rear of the Goodyear Building near the studio art facilities and can be accessed by using the Cedar Street parking lot entrance.
