Nick Milando

Associate Artist - Current

I’m originally from Baltimore and moved to the Philadelphia area in 2017 for school. I fell in love with ceramics back in high school and have been hooked ever since. In college, I minored in studio art and focused on pottery, drawn to the rhythm and challenge of working on the wheel.

My current work centers on bottle forms and narrow neck vases. These shapes allow me to explore the balance between volume and restriction—how a full, rounded form can rise into a refined, delicate opening. I’m especially interested in how subtle variations in curve and proportion can change the entire feeling of a piece. Most of my work is functional, but I leave space for experimentation in surface and form.

There’s something meditative in the repetition of throwing and refining these shapes—each one slightly different, each one teaching me something new. The process keeps me grounded and constantly curious.
