Artist Biography:
Khalil Jannah (b. 2000) is an international ceramic artist based in Philadelphia whose practice explores monumental scale and the evolving language of architecture through clay. He is the inventor of the Wetlock Method—a groundbreaking technique for large-scale wheel-throwing that enables vertical construction and allows clay forms to reach unprecedented height in a single continuous session.
In 2025, Jannah was the youngest and only U.S.-born artist invited to the Global Ceramic Masters Residency in Jingdezhen, China, where he was recognized as a Jingdezhen Master. His ongoing series, Chasing Giants, frames monumental vessels not as functional objects, but as ceramic monoliths—structures that test gravity, endurance, and the boundaries of material.
Jannah has taught across studios in Philadelphia, Newark, Manhattan, Minneapolis, and Detroit. He will continue his international research in 2026, with proposed work across West Africa and the Middle East, while developing a world-record attempt for the tallest wheel-thrown ceramic sculpture.
