Giselle Hicks

Resident Artist - Past

Residence Time: 2011-2013

Giselle Hicks received her BFA from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY and her MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University where she most recently was an Adjunct Instructor in the Art History and Ceramics departments. Hicks' work explores sites within a domestic space, spaces that are, as Hicks states, "routinely and ritually inhabited." For Hicks those sites are the bed/bedroom and table/dining room and are represented through large scale multipart sculptural works, the parts oftentimes a repetition of the same form. All are beautifully and intricately surfaced with repetitive patterns or imagery, "memory traces" of those who had once been there.
