Bruce Weiner

Resident Artist - Past

Residence Time: 1979-1980

Clay artist Bruce Weiner creates one-of-a-kind and custom mosaics, tiles, and pottery. He takes commissions on small and large-scale mosaics.

Inspired by natural processes witnessed both in the environment and in ceramic-making, each piece exemplifies images and textures born of these natural phenomena. No two clay pieces are the same.

Bruce’s ceramic work is heavily influenced by his Navy experience in East and Southeast Asia, particularly Taiwan and Hong Kong, where he had the opportunity to study folk art and wood carving.

Bruce Weiner has worked as an art teacher and clay artist in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania for almost 40 years. He received his master’s degree from Temple University Tyler School of Art. He also studied sculpture at the Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia and worked as an apprentice at the Moravian Tile Works in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

His mosaics and tiles are crafted mostly from terra cotta clay and hand glazed in cobalt blue and copper-chrome green.
