Michael Fujita: Artificially Flavored
Works created by Fujita over the past year as The Clay Studio’s 2009-2010 Evelyn Shapiro Foundation Fellow. The environment that Fujita lives and creates in has always had a distinct influence on his work; this most recent body is no exception.

Ryan Greenheck: Maker, Make, Made.
Ryan Greenheck shares with us first hand his creative process. The exhibition, is part working studio and part exhibition space. Greenheck will be present at varied times throughout the exhibition, making his work in the gallery/temporary studio space. The viewer will have the opportunity to view his process in various phases, from freshly thrown forms to completely finished works.

Made at The Clay Studio: Work by Guest Artists in Residence, 2009-2010
An annual exhibition featuring work created over the past year by Guest Artists-in-Residence of The Clay Studio during their time spent in Philadelphia. Established in 1992, The program has allowed the community to share experiences with individuals from over thirty-five countries. Artists selected to participate in the internationally respected program provide their own travel for an opportunity to work, learn and grow at The Clay Studio.

The Seventh Annual Marge Brown Kalodner Graduate Student Exhibtion
The Seventh Annual Marge Brown Kalodner Graduate Student Exhibition highlights the best work of artists from US graduate programs located from coast to cost. The premise for the exhibition is to identify artists whose work is redefining the parameters of ceramics as a medium, attracting attention of the wider art world and creatively exploring the capabilities of functional ware.

Molly Hatch: Mimesis
Molly Hatch was one of three artists awarded a solo exhibition for The Clay Studio's 2009/2010 exhibition season. Educated at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where she recieved her BFA in 2000 and at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she received her MFA in 2008, Hatch has quickly established herself as a maker to watch.

Associate Artist Group Exhibition
The Clay Studio's Associate Artist program was designed to create a rich community that fosters critical and artistic development, the Associate Program is a communal studio space supported in part by forty local artists on a non-juried basis. The work represented in the exhibition spans the full range of expression possible when working with clay, functional objects, vessels, abstract sculpture, and figurative work will all be represented.

The Philadelphia Foundation awards the Clay Studio a $30,000 grant for general operating expenses.
The Clay Studio is pleased to announce that they have received a $30,000 grant from the Edward M. Story Memorial Fund in Memory of Father Samuel Story and Mother Mary Grosvenor Parker Story through The Philadelphia Foundation to support general operating expenses.
The Clay Studio recieves a $3,000 grant to provide arts programming at the Philadelphia Youth Study Center
The Clay Studio is pleased to announce that they have received a $3,000 grant from the Henrietta Tower Wurts Memorial to support hands-on arts opportunities provided through its award-winning outreach program, the Claymobile.
Small Favors V
Small Favors is The Clay Studio's annual exhibition showcasing the latest in small, affordable, wall-mounted artworks. The artists invited to participate in the show are challenged to rethink their work based on the confines of a defined space (less than 4" in any direction) engaging their creativity in new and exciting ways. The fruits of their labor are fiercely guarded until the preview reception 5/6/10 when enthusiasts and collectors alike have an opportunity to view and purchse these one of a kind pieces.

Clay Studio Resident Artists, Evelyn Shapiro Foundation Fellowship recipients and select Guest Artists in Residence, from 2000 to present day. Of This Century is among the most poignant of 90+ refined and meaningful ceramic art exhibitions that The Clay Studio organized throughout March and April across the Philadelphia area to coincide with INDEPENDENCE, The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) 44th Annual conference, March 31- April 3rd, 2010 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

MEDIA ALERT: National Ceramics Confernce is Breaking the Mold
The Clay Studio and the National Council on Education for The Ceramics Arts (NCECA) will attract over 6,000 participants from around the world to Philadelphia for a conference dealing with the various aspects of ceramic arts. The Clay Studio has coordinated over 90 cutting edge ceramics exhibitions to be installed throughout the area to coincide with the conference.

Sanbao: A Way of Living and Working

Li breathes life and passion into his works of clay. Clean and delicate in both form and design, his works express beauty and vulnerability while invoking a romantic longing reminiscent of Tang and Sung poetry.

Nate Prouty: Piles & Countertops
Prouty’s skill as a craftsman is evident in every piece he makes regardless of his material choice. Beautifully finished and highly refined, his work references the early fetish finish movement of Southern California in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s in an updated and contemporary way.

Steve Thurston: The Origins of Allegories
