As one of the best centers for the support of artists and the creation of art in the country, The Clay Studio now attracts some of the finest emerging artists in the field of ceramics to its residency programs. In order to maintain our well-deserved status as a premiere ceramic arts center, it is imperative that The Clay Studio provide a first class technical infrastructure.

At the heart of The Clay Studio is the equipment necessary for ceramics production. The Studio’s equipment serves 12 Resident Artists, 25 Associate Artists, 200 students per term and the Claymobile outreach program, which reaches up to 1300 additional students annually. Kilns are firing day and night, and each repair taxes an already overextended schedule.

Over the past few years, support from our community has helped us purchase computerized electric kilns, test kilns, spray booth equipment, Brent potters wheels, and a larger capacity hot water heater for the School. We are mounting the drive again this year so we can rebuild our aging small gas kiln and continue to replace all aging equipment in a timely fashion.

At the center of our Equipment Fund campaign is The Clay Studio Yard Sale. On First Friday, May 4th, from 5 to 9pm, the Studio’s parking lot will be filled with work donated by regional potters and the Studio’s in-house artists.

You can help this campaign in two ways. First, please show your solidarity and help match the generosity of the area’s clay artists by making a secure online donation now! The Clay Studio is a private, nonprofit organization as described in section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code. Your contribution is tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. Any non-member donating over $50 will be enrolled as a Clay Studio member, and all donations over $25 will receive a coupon for 10% off an item in the Shop.
