Join The Bertram Horowitz Society
The Clay Studio has created the Bertram Horowitz Society to recognize individuals who make significant annual gifts and provide opportunities for them to meet with other like-minded friends, with the Studio’s Resident Artists and Staff leaders, and with other prominent artists. The exceptional generosity of these donors gives The Clay Studio the resources to achieve the highest level of artistic and educational quality possible. Specifically, the donations received from Horowitz Society members allow the Studio to continue its work in shaping the future of ceramics through:
- Classes and Workshops for all levels
- World Class Exhibitions in three new gallery spaces
- Artist Residencies with a focus on emerging talent
- Innovative Outreach Programs serving all ages
The Horowitz Society is named in honor of a great man who rescued The Clay Studio in 1980 after a devastating fire. Good fortune and destiny brought Bert Horowitz to us as our insurance adjuster, but Bert’s love of art and concern for artists bereft of their studios led him to focus his indefatigable energy to rebuild the Studio from those ashes. Through his support and leadership The Clay Studio found a new facility, hired its first paid director and established a community-based Board of Directors. Bert became the first Board President, engaged his friends and associates in our mission, and nurtured us back to health. The Clay Studio community is forever indebted to him, and he will always be our hero.
As a Horowitz Society member, you too can become our hero, having accepted a significant role in ensuring The Clay Studio’s ongoing success. Horowitz Society membership begins with an annual donation of $1000 or more. But it is not just that: it is a dedicated group of ceramic art lovers meeting in social settings with each other, with the Studio’s Resident Artists and Staff leaders, and with other prominent artists. Continued fellowship in the Society will bring you not only all the benefits of advanced membership in our organization, but also the ability to meet with other like-minded friends and engage with each other for exciting artist salons, outings and tours - all with the excellent help of the Studio’s dedicated staff. Those of you who have been involved in the Studio’s efforts in the past know how exciting it is to share the Studio’s success with such wonderful people. Please join these ceramic lovers and "heroes" in our new Society. We look forward to meeting with new and old friends to keep Bert Horowitz's efforts alive and well.
