The Clay Studio Members Exhibition
Submission Deadline April 12, 2008.
The Clay Studio will host the first Juried Members Exhibition in its 34 year history from June 6 through June 29, 2008. Submissions will be juried by Steven Young Lee, Resident Artist Director of the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts. The jurying process will be open to all current Clay Studio members as well as all artists who join The Clay Studio by the submission deadline of April 12, 2008. Works may be mixed media, but clay must be the primary medium. We encourage submissions from artists working in all types of and approaches to clay, as our primary goal is to represent the exciting diversity within this medium.
The purpose for this exhibition is to provide an opportunity for ceramic artists who support The Clay Studio to exhibit their work in the Studio's galleries. The Clay Studio is a member-supported nonprofit organization; this exhibition encourages membership while showcasing the work of local, regional and national artists who otherwise may not have the opportunity to exhibit here.
Application Process
There is no entry fee. The only requirement is that you are a member of The Clay Studio. If you are not a member, you can learn about the benefits of membership by clicking here. You can easily join via our safe, secure website.Each artist is asked to submit BY EMAIL to Gallery Assistant Amy Santoferraro at asanto@theclaystudio.org one image each of no more than two pieces for possible inclusion in the exhibit. No slides will be accepted for review, ONLY DIGITAL IMAGES
The images must be of pieces to be included in the exhibition, no exceptions, and the accepted works MUST be available for sale. Images must be .jpg files at 72 dpi, with the image's longest dimension not exceeding 700 pixels. Each image should be labeled as follows: imagenumberyourfirstinitialandlastname.jpg, Example: 1jdoe.jpg, 2jdoe.jpg

Join via our safe, secure website. or, if you prefer, please send a check to MEMBERSHIP, The Clay Studio, 137-139 N. 2nd Street, Philadelphia PA 19106.Works will be juried by Steven Young Lee, Resident Artist Director of the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts in Helena, Montana. A former Bray resident most recently teaching at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, B.C., Lee received his MFA in Ceramics from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 2004. In 2004-5, he lectured and taught at numerous universities throughout China. In the United States, he has taught at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, the Clay Art Center in New York and the Lill Street Studio in Chicago. He has also managed a ceramics supply business in Chicago. His work has been exhibited in China, Canada and throughout the United States, and is held in private collections in New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Montana.

May 28 Selected work must arrive at The Clay Studio. Your resume and artist statement should also be forwarded at that time. Remember, all work selected for inclusion in this exhibition must be available for sale.
June 5 Preview Party
June 6 First Friday Public Opening
June 29 Exhibition closes
The Clay Studio provides an invitation, mailing, press coverage, and will host a preview party and an opening reception. TCS will also pay for the return shipment of any unsold work and shall receive a 50% commission for all work sold.
