The Evelyn Shapiro Foundation Fellowship

The Clay Studio is pleased to offer the Evelyn Shapiro Foundation Fellowship, a one-year artist residency. The Fellowship provides:

There will also be a solo exhibition for the recipient in the fall of 2009 with a small catalogue.

The residency runs from September 1, 2008 through August 31, 2009.

Focus

The focus of the work of the Fellowship recipient will alternate annually between functional work/vessel oriented work (even years) and sculpture/installation oriented work (odd years). The focus of this year's Fellowship will be functional work/vessel oriented work.

Interaction with Clay Studio Community

The incoming fellow will become part of a community of 11 other Resident Artists. He/she is expected to participate in the program fully, sharing the same duties as those of other Resident Artists including the maintenance of the studio spaces and a small amount of volunteered time to The Clay Studio.

Application Process

Applicants will be judged by an independent three-member jury and will be notified by the third week of April. The selected artist must accept or decline by May 9, 2008. All applicants are strongly encouraged to visit The Clay Studio prior to submitting an application.

No slides will be accepted for review, ONLY DIGITAL IMAGES.
