Written words may relate experiences, express feelings, and tell our histories. Sometimes, working with clay is "writing" using its own language to express all these things as well. At times, the clay assumes a life of its own, dictating what it will become. And that becoming may not be at all what I had in mind. In those moments between thoughts where all is quietly alive and centered, as in meditation, some of my faces, figures, and pots may emerge. And as they do, I experience joy and contentment.

Even when that flow is illusive, the possibilities still seem endless, as long as imagination keeps openly exploring and expanding, and the heart is willing. Ceramics connects all cultures and people around the world in an amazing network of expressions and creativity. The Clay Studio, as a participant in this connection and network exposes its wide constituents to some of the most interesting artists working in clay.

I have taken classes and workshops with many of these artists here at The Studio and elsewhere. I have been doing ceramics for twenty years. As an Associate Artist, my contacts and horizons have expanded in many ways.

My BA degree is form Oklahoma University and my Master's degree is from Yale University in Religion.
